As many parents know, the best way for our children to value and embrace the needs of all in our community, is to embrace it ourselves! Whether as individuals or as organizations, we have a responsibility to recognize how partnership and earnest dialog pave the way to stronger networks of support for our community. Working to overcome the struggles we share together makes us all stronger and more resilient—and partners in our shared success! This speaks to the heart of BBBSY’s mission…
On International Women’s day, the staff of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Yukon were gifted with the opportunity to meet with Elder Joyce Hall (Carcross-Tagish First Nations) and the Whitehorse Aboriginal Women’s Circle (WAWC) and discuss a partnership for their Virtual Resource Center project—a vital tool being designed to assist and link the many resources our community offers with those in need, whether they are in Whitehorse or in the communities. This is just one of the many ways Big Brothers Big Sisters of Yukon supports our community in addressing the complex issues facing Yukon’s children and youth, alongside our own mentoring programs. May our approach, and our decades of BBBS data-driven research, continue to be a meaningful support for other organisations at every level— from startup to established practices. And what a joy to support one another in this way!
