The Big Brothers mentoring program provides boys and young men with a role model to talk to and share the experiences of growing up with. Through regular outings, a relationship is developed between the mentor and the mentee, which is built on trust and common interests, and is supported by our experienced case-workers. The result is a life-changing experience for both the mentor and the mentee.

Mentoring through Music
Come jam with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Yukon & BGC Yukon!!! Mentoring through Music is a ten-week program where youth ages 8-18 can gather to play music together, share snacks and most importantly…have fun! No prior music experience? No problem! Skilled community music leaders will assist each week in providing opportunities for those who’ve always wanted to play, including ukulele circles, introductions to various instruments as well as production & recording techniques. We will also be attending a concert as a group activity, and spending some time in a professional studio as a final project.
Junior Team Mentoring
Junior Team Mentoring is an In-School site-based group program that runs during the school year for a minimum of 8 weeks, with the exception of holidays, scheduled breaks and the summers. This program matches younger grades with higher grade students, and they meet weekly during the lunch hour, they participate in activities such as art, crafts, music, games, board games and facilitated discussions under the supervision of BBBSY staff or screened and trained volunteers. This program is dependent on the schools we host it in, enrolling students from schools we don’t currently host in is still advised, as identifying a need in other schools gives us the opportunity to have discussions and start the program there.
