Curl for Kids Sake 2025

On Saturday November 15th 2025 we hosted our annual Charity Curling Tournament, we hosted a full 16 teams for the first time in several years, and hit yet another record high in sponsorship and had a very successful silent auction. This year we had the most “Learn to Curl” students in the history of the event, and Saw RBC Whitehorse take the top fundraising team in the Corporate and Community category, making them the champions of 2025 wrestling the title away from friendly rivals BMO Whitehorse keeping the rivalry going strong in support of the community. K-Pop Demon Hunter Mom’s took home the top fundraising title in the friends and family category, again led by long time supporter and friend Jenny Trapnell, always bringing fantastic energy to our events. When the smoke cleared, we raised a total of $12,386.45 exceeding last year’s total and our target goals. We want to give everyone a huge thank you for making this year’s event a success and we hope to have you all back next year.

The Inaugural Golf for Kids’ Sake Charity Tournament in partnership with BGC Yukon

On Friday August 15th 2025 we hosted our first Golf for Kids’ Sake fundraiser, we hosted 18 teams and had a successful silent auction, lunch as well as dinner. With lots of support from the community, we raised a total of $27,524.50 which the net revenues after expenses were split between organizations equally. We got a lot of positive feedback from participants, and it was a great collaboration between two great organizations and showed just how much our community really cares about the benefit of young people and their families in the territory and we hope to continue to host partnered events in the future. We want to thank everyone that contributed to making it a success, and hope to see you on the fairways next summer!

“Mirror Mirror”

In January 2025 in honor of mentoring month, we launched a mentor recruitment campaign that with the help of our community has led to several volunteer inquiries of which several have led to fully screened mentors, and new matches. The campaign had businesses display decals on mirrors that ask people to take a look in the mirror and ask themselves if they have what it takes to be a mentor, and the answer is yes and if you would like to find out how please reach out. We saw lots of success with this campaign and plan to run it annually, to hopefully continue the momentum it has generated.

Hut-To-Hut

We had the wonderful opportunity to serve as Hut Hosts at The Whitehorse Nordic Centre’s Hutto-Hut Cross Country Ski Event, where we hosted The Sarah Steele Hut on the cross-country skill course. It was a fantastic day filled with fun, community spirit, and memorable moments! Our team, alongside some BGC Yukon staff members, greeted and supported the skiers as they made their way through the course. At our hut, we offered a variety of treats to keep everyone energized including chili, S’mores, and Rice Krispie squares perfectly timed for the skiers’ last stop before finishing the course. The atmosphere was warm and inviting with a crackling fire where many enjoyed roasting marshmallows. Inside the hut, we had a cozy wood stove, games like Giant Badminton and Nerf rockets to keep the young ones entertained, and cheerful decorations that drew people in. It was wonderful to see families engaging, laughing, and sharing this outdoor adventure together. Throughout the event, we interacted with approximately 150 local skiers and their families, creating a lively and friendly community environment. A big thank you to EDI for sponsoring the event costs and to the Whitehorse Nordic Centre for inviting us to be part of this special day. We truly enjoyed being hosts and would gladly return any time!

The Big Squeeze 2025 an Even Bigger Squeeze

On Wednesday August 7th 2025 we hosted our annual city wide lemonade stand competition, this year although we had a few less competitors we ended up raising the most we ever have, with several new competitors and several returning it was another big splash. Normandy Living became the first ever Back to Back Champions in the top fundraising category, and Boreal Clinic took home the best tasting & presentation trophy. And at the end of the day we raised a whopping total of $6,879.70 again raising the most it ever has, with a huge thank you to Save-on-Foods for again so generously donating all the lemons for the teams. It was another fun and exciting day with lots of creative recipes, and the weather could not have been better. We want to thank everyone who made it a success, including our board and volunteers that help judge and run our stand. We hope to see you all back next year as we hope to continue the trend of getting bigger every year!

The Final Bowl for Kids’ Sake BFKS 2025 Pajama Party

The event featured a lively bowling tournament where community supporters registered 25 teams, nearly reaching our goal of 30 raising funds to support our programs. The day was energized by a successful silent auction, pizza, and door prizes, making it a fun and engaging experience for all. A special guest appearance from The Whitehorse Charitable Firefighters Society, where Alex, who actually used to be a Big Brother for us along with A shift, brought the fire engine to show the kids and meet the young people in attendance. Our corporate & community challenge saw RBC emerge as the top fundraising team, alongside Team O Leão Junior Muay Thai comprising students of our executive director who volunteers his time coaching local youth. Both teams ended up with some sweet custom glass blown trophies that were generously donated by Lumel Studios. We were fortunate to have the support of 10 event sponsors including Brtittany Widrig who hosted an event that raised money for us on their birthday. How incredibly thoughtful and generous of them to think of us on their special day! We had 13 auction sponsors, which all but a few items sold, helping contribute to the teams totals and after costs, we raised a net total of $12,529.74 to further our mission to help all young people in the territory reach their full potential through meaningful mentoring relationships We sincerely thank Northern Lights Bowling for their partnership and support over the years. While the bowling alley has now permanently closed, we cherish the meaningful memories created there and wish the staff all the best in their next chapters. As we pivot to new avenues such as our upcoming golf tournament, we look forward to continuing our community-driven efforts with your ongoing support and we thank you for being part of this special journey with us!

The Big Squeeze: The Biggest Squeeze

On Wednesday August 6th 2024 20 different businesses and organizations competed against us selling lemonade around town, coming up with creative recipes and exciting decorations and keeping the public refreshed during the heatwave. This year we raised the most that we ever have with this event with a whopping total of $5,869.43 after expenses, which thanks to our wonderful Sponsor Save-On-Foods the cost of the event is quite low compared to other events, because they are generous enough to donate all the lemons for the teams. We also want to give a shoutout to the young people who were running the stands, Layla & Stevie for being the top 4 and 5 fundraisers, and to Declan & Oliver for winning this year’s best tasting & presentation. Wait to show up for your community, and congratulations to Normandy Living for being the Top Fundraiser. Gratitude to everyone that helped make a splash and make it a success. We hope to keep you all refreshed next year!
